Catalanesca was initially used as a table grape, transitioning to a wine grape since 2006. Originating from Catalonia in the 15th century with Alfonso I of Aragon, initially, it wasn't possible to mention the grape's name on the label, hence the use of "Catalò" to introduce and promote awareness of this variety.
